How I Create My Digital Products
Wondering how I create my digital products? It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of selling digital products online, whether that’s as a stand-alone business or as part of your coaching or service-based business.
I know you want the secrets so today I’m demystifying everything! Today, I’m going to walk you through my process for creating digital products–and for the record, it’s way easier than you think.
Digital products are a fantastic way to generate income for online businesses, so let’s dive in.
Why Create Digital Products?
If you’re running an online business, you need something to sell. Digital products are a top-notch option because they’re highly profitable. I focus on a few different options: books, videos, and audios.
Don’t Get It Twisted
The best tool is always the one you already have. You don’t need to get super fancy when it comes to creating digital products! Of course, making your product look good is nice. But the content is always the most important thing.
How I Create My Ebooks + Workbooks
Create Your Outline
Before you write or record a single word, get focused as to what you’re talking or writing about. Your product is ultimately here to solve a problem. Outline the easiest way to get from Point A to Point B and let that serve as your outline.
You definitely don’t have to put a lot of effort into the outline! But organizing your thoughts first will save you a lot of confusion later.
Pages
I almost always create my ebooks and workbooks in Apple Pages–a free app that comes with Mac computers. Occasionally I’ll start taking notes in an app like BB Edit. But most of the writing happens in Pages.
Not only is Pages free, but it’s also relatively straight-forward to use.
Canva
Canva is another favorite tool (also free for the basic option). It’s great for making graphics for anything (social, your logo, etc.). You can even put your whole ebook in there (after you’re finished writing it) so you can design each page. (For me personally, that’s too complicated. Lol!) But I still use Canva to design the cover and other assets.
In the end, it doesn’t really matter where you create your ebook. It only matters that you get it done so go with the choice that makes feels the easiest for you.
How I Create Videos + Audios
Quicktime
Quicktime is another app that comes with a Mac that allows you to do three different things: audio recordings, screen recordings, and video (webcam) recordings. All three of these tools are useful for various digital products.
For my meditations and other audios, I usually amp things up a little more by editing the MP3 in Audacity after recording. (This is totally optional though.)
I also definitely recommend investing in a microphone to get better sound. (I have two: one Blue Snowball and one smaller mic that I use when I’m recording video.) I want to get one of those fancy Rode mics someday!
For video editing, I have been using Capcut recently but you can also do it in iMovie (another free Mac app). Be sure to export it as an MP4!
Final Thoughts
Creating digital products doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, you can even create digital products while on your sofa watching the Kardashians. (I have definitely done this!) Just be sure to focus on delivering value, and the rest will fall into place.
